Atlas Foods
Americana in the U
by Sharon Liss
The
newest addition to Chow Food Services is Atlas Foods located in the University
Village. Not a common place yet for breakfast - but soon to be - Atlas Foods serves
up mouth-watering breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
The
environment borrows on American culture. There is a full bar with a TV, great
for watching the Husky games and taking in a lunch. Seating is private and cozy
with lots of natural light flowing through the restaurant. An apple wood grill
with wood exposed to diners adds to the coziness of this place. The tables are
large and there are beautiful L-shaped booths.
Atlas foods wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Chow has learned how to put together an excellent training program before they
send a wait person out on their own, and it shows.
The menu is similar to other Chow establishments (Coastal
Kitchen, Five Spot, Jitterbug), borrowing on American Classic styles and changing
themes every three months. Currently, the "Mississippi Blue Highway;"
artwork and food attribute to this theme.
Food portions are quite large, so bring your appetite or
don't be afraid to share a plate. During a recent evening visit, Bryan, our
waiter, suggested the Niman Ranch Pork Chop supper which is an all natural pork
chop from Diamond Ranch in San Francisco.
When you're done be sure to take a moment to look at the magnificent
mural that adorns the outside west wall of the building. You can also opt
to take a nice stroll through the shops at the U Village, or make your way over
to the next Husky game
Reservations are accepted. No American Express.
