When you first walk into The Melting Pot, you will get the feel for an entirely
different dining experience, and the excitement awaits you.
There is a fully stocked bar with light jazz music paying in the background and the
atmosphere is contemporary with an industrial edge to it. The dining area is cozy and
private, perfect for entertaining or a romantic evening.
Here the menu is one of a kind in this area. You can start with a Cheddar Cheese Fondue
and then go with an entree from there. The entrees include a salad of your choice. The
waitperson starts the fondue pot as you sit talking over a glass of wine. Soon the fondue
wine has started to steam and cheese is melted by your server into the pot right in front
of you! The bread basket has three types of bread as well a apples, broccoli, carrots, and
celery. Be sure to poke the crust of the bread when dipping in the fondu and remember the
closer you get to the bottom of the cheese the hotter it gets so be careful not to burn
your mouth.
When you're done with the cheese fondue get ready for the entrée! You have the option
to get The Traditional Fondue Style or the Fondue Court Boullion Style which is low in fat
and cholesterol-free. The entrée dipping pot comes out in this unusual torture chamber
holding device. Once the broth starts boiling you receive the entrée you've ordered. The entrée
is served with several choices of sauce. I had the Pacific Rim Entrée consisting of
steak, chicken, duck, shitake mushrooms and potstickers. The sauces served with this
entree include Horseradish, a sour cream mixture, curry (my personal favorite), a plum
sauce and Thai peanut sauce. If eating an entrée with meat it is very important that you
remember not to put the uncooked meat onto your pewter plate. All uncooked meat belongs on
the white plate. So you're poking the food, dipping it and then eating... so much fun!.
Unless, of course, it's the vegetables you get along with the entrée. This method is to toss
into the bouillon then in a minute or two spoon out and onto your plate.
There are signs on the table indicating the dipping time. Most foods take a minute or
two. Everyone at the table has color coded skewers so when dining and talking all you have
to remember is the color of your skewer.
The wait staff goes through a intense training period and when tipping please keep in
mind how hard they are working for you.
The Melting Pot is a fun and totally new dining experience.
