MCTom.jpg (58951 bytes)Greetings!

Welcome to our fist issue of Seattle Dining.com. Who we are and why we are here may be the first things you want to know, so here's a little run down.

Seattle Dining.com is a product of our on-line publishing company here in Seattle called Mixed Media. Are we backed with millions of investor dollars and advertising all over radio and TV? Nope. We're two entrepreneurs who are working at a grass roots level not commonly seen in this day and age.  A special tip of the hat to Ed Eibel, the other half of Seattle Dining.com who has done a knock-out job creating the site over the last two months. It wouldn't have been possible without him.

We also produce Sounds of Seattle*, an online publication for the local music scene. Our magazines are published online only and are geared to be special interest and regional specific. You won't be throwing out each issue, but you will be able to refer to the archive any time in case you want to browse a previous article.

Do we claim to be qualified critics of eating? Not any more than you. Our focus is to inform you about establishments around the Sound and let you decide for yourself if you want to patronize them. What we shoot for is to give you deeper insight than a simple restaurant review you might find in a magazine or online. We won't just talk about the food or service, but let you in on who the owners are, some background of the chefs, who's the favorite bartender, and so on.

Dining is something you do inside and outside the home and to that end we'll also be covering things like kitchenware stores, gourmet, wine, and even brew your own beer places.

We're listening to your input as well. Since we don't claim to be the prime ministers of the Seattle food scene (yet), we'll rely on you to guide us to new experiences that we can share with other readers, and along the way we hope you'll discover something new and interesting that you otherwise might not have known. We're already listening to the people by visiting local news groups weekly and reading the posts put there by the people who live here.

Online magazines can typically be a one way street, but that won't be the case with Seattle Dining. You'll have the chance to submit your own reviews and features for consideration. Not only that, (here comes the cool part) each month we'll hold a mixer party where everyone is welcome to show up in person, meet us and network with others at the event. Some charge $10 or more for events like these, but these will be free to all readers. Yes, bring lots of business cards, I can't emphasize it more: BRING LOTS OF BUSINESS CARDS! Imagine if the employer of your dreams shows up and you're caught without your card!  Mercy...  Join us for our first Mixer April 21st at Arnie's on Northlake from 5-8 p.m.

If you have a moment drop us a note and let us know how we're doing. And by all means fill in the offer on the home page so you can get a monthly notification each time we post the new issue.

Regards,
Tom Mehren
