09 /27     Wine Dinner at Red Cow with Buty Winery

Founder Nina Buty will be in attendance to talk about the wines as the dinner progresses. The evening begins at 6pm with a 30-minute meet and greet with rosé and charcuterie before sitting down for the meal. The dinner is $120/person plus tax and tip—call the restaurant at to save a spot (credit card required for reservations.) Welcome: House-made charcuterie and hors d’oeuvres, 2016 Buty Rosé of the Stones. First: Crab salad with citrus, avocado, watercress, and fennel, 2014 Buty Blanc, White Bordeaux blend. Second: Parisian gnocchi with foraged mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes, bacon, and marjoram, 2013 Buty Rockgarden Estate Mourvèdre blend. Third: Family style rib-eye steak with grilled seasonal veggies, house-made sauces, frites and aioli, 2014 Buty Conner Lee Vineyard Cabernet Franc blend. Dessert: Cheese plate with crostini and house-made preserves, 2012 Buty Rediviva of the Stones Syrah blend. It’s sure to be a lovely late summer evening of Washington wine and good company—join in! 09 /30     Northwest Tea Festival

10th anniversary of this premier US tea festival! Over 10 stage presentations, 30 workshops, and 50 tea-tasting experiences will be led by leading US tea experts. The festival attracts growers, importers, and tea specialists, and immerses people in cultural experiences which cover cultural aspects to historical aspects, the sensory to the scientific. $15 for a two-day pass, or $25 for two 2-day passes. Price includes porcelain tasting teacup, reusable shopping bag, lectures, tastings, and access to vendors (shopping!). Some workshops require additional fees: registration is on the website. The Tea Festival will take place over two days, 9/30 (10a.m.-6p.m.)-10/1 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.), at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, 305 Harrison St.

On the eve of World Sake day (10/1), Kokkaku, the new Japanese-inspired meat house in Wallinford is having a sake dinner. Hudson Valley Foie Gras pate and cara cara orange; tableside soft tofu with Kakitama Jiru; Totten Inlet Geoduck and Tagliatelle of Daikon; Miyazaki Wagyu New York Strip Loin with Oregon wasabi; Matcha Panna Cotta. Sake pairings by GM Julie Shizukuishi and Mr. Kamoto of Dewazakura Brewery. $125 per person including tax and gratuity. 6:30-10 p.m. Reservations required; go to website.
