Café to Café

Everyone has a favorite something, so we asked people what theirs were. Here's what we heard.

Kirkland Uncorked

This is a summer favorite of, well, just about everyone. It's Washington's largest summer wine festival, located on the picturesque shores of Lake Washington in Kirkland, Kirkland Uncorked features 70+ wines for tasting (think 'spit'), as well as a beer tent, and signature cocktail featuring Avion Silver tequila; Saturday Food Truck Feast; and live music inside the Tasting Garden (21+); the Uncorked Market; a boat show' and dog modeling contest inside the all-ages Street Fair. It's summer: head to Kirkland!

Kirkland Uncorked takes place July 14-16, 2017, at Marina Park. General admission tickets are $25 (ticket price increases on July 14); if you're the designated driver, a non-wine drinker, or expectant mother, you pay $15. Deals if you buy tickets from Fred Meyer and the Grape Choice. For more details,

Russell's Restaurant and Loft

Simple, done well: words to live by. In fact, Executive Chef and Owner Russell Lowell is celebrating the 12th anniversary of his 1927 restored dairy barn with style and some TLC! Bar seating has been extended, table tops refinished, menus revamped, and The Loft has been brightened. Walls are peppered with photographs of Russell, friends and family and, of course, his personal collection of hand-tied flies and hunting trophies. If you're lucky, you may even catch Russell reminiscing about his adventures. So come on in for a memorable evening at one of Bothell's finest: Russell's Restaurant and Loft.

Russell's Restaurant is located at 3305 Monte Villa Parkway in Bothell. Breakfast and lunch hours are 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Happy hour Tuesday-Friday 4-6 p.m. Dinner Tuesday-Saturday 5-10 p.m., and Sunday 4-9 p.m. 425-486-4072.

The Capital Grille's Generous Pour

The Capital Grille's annual Generous Pour wine event returns on July 10, another summer favorite of all who have partaken. You'll have the opportunity to experience seven California and Oregon wines all rated 90 points or higher by some of the most respected wine reviewers in the world. Their knowledgeable servers look forward to guiding you in pairing as many of these seven wines as you like for $28 with dinner. They invite you to raise a glass, or seven, to The Critics' Darlings. Reserve your table!

The Capital Grille is located at 1301 4th Avenue in the historic Cobb building, downtown Seattle. Valet parking is available. The Generous Pour runs from July 10 - September 3. Reserve your space by calling 206-382-0900 or visiting

Ethan Stowell Restaurants

What's a favorite of the man behind so many dishes, restaurants, and collaborations? "I always fall back to the classics," says Ethan. "Nothing really says summertime to me like a well-made burger." Bramling Cross in Ballard has just what you need to greet the warm weather- from a double-stacked shiitake and caramelized onion burger, smoked pork short ribs, fried oysters with BC wing sauce, to their Dynamite fried chicken, which you can also get at Safeco field while you sit back and watch the M's clean up (hint, ask for the "TNT" if you think you can take the heat!)

Bramling Cross is located at 5205 Ballard Ave NW in Ballard. Hours are Sunday-Thursday 5-10 p.m., Friday-Saturday 5-11 p.m. Happy Hour is offered daily in the bar only from 5-7 p.m. 206-420-8192. Visit to find out more about Bramling Cross and Ethan's other restaurants.

Maslow's by FareStart

FareStart has five new eateries coming to Amazon's South Lake Union campus, all open to the public. We checked in with FareStart Corporate Executive Chef Wayne Johnson (no toque, just a hard hat) and Maslow's Executive Chef Skyler Gemar about favorites at Maslow's. Wayne is all over the Jidori fried chicken with candied bacon gravy. "I love food that takes me to my childhood and the stories that happen when your taste buds travel back to those days. Comfort food for me all day long!" Chef Skyler is heading elsewhere: peanut butter semifreddo. "It's one of my favorite late-night snacks: peanut butter, jelly, Nutella."

Maslow's by FareStart will be open by the end of July at 380 Boren Ave N in Seattle. Monday-Saturday they will offer lunch, happy hour, and dinner. 206-588-4020

B & E Meats and Seafood

One of B & E Meats and Seafood's summertime favorites is their Prime New York steak: pure, juicy beef flavor, and simple to prepare. Consumers look for quality, consistency, and transparency. At B & E, they can count on all three."
