Olympic Peninsula Wineries' Northwest Wine, Cider and Cheese Tour

It's time for the Northwest Wine, Cider and Cheese Tour! A collaboration of nine award-winning wineries and cideries located in the Olympic Peninsula towns of Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend, Nordland (Marrowstone Island) and Chimacum invite you to sample the season's new wine releases specially paired with artisan cheeses. Each venue has a unique character and flavor with a common warm hospitality. Enjoy a scenic drive to this beautiful region of our state and celebrate the flavors of spring! The self-guided wine/cider tour takes place on April 27 & 28, 11am to 5pm. Advance online tickets are $40, or $45 at the door. Price includes wine, cider and cheese tasting at all nine locations plus a commemorative wine glass.

Willows Lodge and Barking Frog

The Georgian Revival: Washington Wines UNCORKED

Loosen your ties and kick off your heels for a boisterous dinner showcasing our region's celebrated wine mixed with witty musical "wine standards," presented with Richard Gray and The 5th Avenue Theatre. With a menu created to pair perfectly with Washington wines, enjoy this special experience for connoisseurs, lovers of wine, or those just discovering our local varietals. Be ready for a good time! Built in 1924, the Fairmont Olympic's Georgian dates back to the hotel opening and has been a fixture of fine dining in Seattle. Revolve True Food & Wine

With Revolve's nightly fresh sheet featuring the best of the season as soon as it's available, you know that you can find some pretty fine halibut. Their version? Halibut seared in pancetta fat, topped with coconut-cream-tobiko sauce, and served with green papaya noodles and smashed avocado. Score! April is Seattle Restaurant Week(s), so plan on heading to Revolve to consider savory bacon wrapped dates, Moroccan spiced boneless chicken thighs, grilled wild salmon, pina colada panna cotta and more. Scratch Distillery

Once you've discovered Scratch Distillery and its spirit(ual) wonders, you'll want to be able to find it easily. Now you don't have to get to their Edmonds headquarters because their spirits are available statewide! Barrel Finished Gin and the flagship Martini Style Gin can be found at all Total Wine and More locations in Washington. All PCC locations carry Wheat Vodka, Pepper Infused Vodka, Citrus Infused Vodka, and the Martini Style Gin. In Seattle, Serious Pie and Tavern Law have the largest array of Scratch Distillery products. Of course, the Edmonds location is the perfect place to gather, tour, taste.

Scratch Distillery is located at 190 Sunset Avenue in Edmonds. It is open Thursday through Saturday, 1-7 p.m., and Sundays 1-6 p.m. 425-673-7046. Check out their website for a map of all bar and retail locations that carry Scratch, and breath a sigh of relief.

Brinnon ShrimpFest

Memorial weekend screams sun, water, and seafood. Great way to celebrate? Brinnon ShrimpFest, a community celebration of the Hood Canal Spot Shrimp and other local seafood! Try shrimp onsite plus there are limited quantities of Hood Canal Shrimp for sale. Tides are low enough this weekend for easy harvest of clams and oysters on the public beaches nearby (license required), and weather is traditionally marvelous! Family fun includes arts and craft booths, live music, kids' activities. Don't forget the annual belt sander races: bring your own decorated belt sander to enter. Races take place at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Brinnon ShrimpFest takes place over Memorial Weekend: May 25, 10-6, and May 26, 10-5. Gate Fee $5/day. Includes parking. Kids under 12 FREE with paying parent. Active Military and Veterans FREE (with ID). Tickets at the gate: 251 Hjelvicks Road in Brinnon.
