Seattle Wine & Food Experience
February 26, 2012 Noon-5 p.m.
Seattle Center Exhibition Hall
Since 2008, the Seattle Food & Wine Experience has
brought food and wine together. It's become a must-do event for many and
this year there is even more to get excited about.
Jamie Peha of Peha Promotions has been managing and
promoting the Experience for the past two years. This year, she purchased
the rights for the event, renamed it the Seattle Wine & Food Experience
and is adding some intriguing features. As always, there will be a great
variety of food for guests to enjoy from Ponti Seafood Grill to
LUC to Andaluca to A La Mode Pies and many more from Seattle as well as
The Country Cat Dinnerhouse & Bar from Portland: 24 food booths total.
Oregon is the featured wine region this year with more
than 30 wineries in a special area. Another 30 wineries from California
and 30 from Washington state plus the Idaho Wine Commission pouring a
selection of brands along with Ste. Chapelle and, finally, more than a
dozen international wineries will be present.
Ten beer and cider makers will be represented, along with 13
distilleries. This list may answer your question about why the hours
have been extended... You'll need to rest between food and beverage
tastes!
Special features will include the Stella Artois Viking Stage hosted by
Chef in the Hat Thierry Rautureau; an artisan food area where you can
sample and purchase items featuring 10-12
exhibitors (pickles!, chocolate!, gluten free bread and pasta!); the
Washington Beef
Bistro featuring four chefs; the Mashed Potato Bar featuring the
Washington Potato Commission paired with Chef Kaspar Donier; Chateau Ste. Michelle
Culinary Director John Sarich whipping up some delicious lamb bites
paired with four wines.
As in past years, there will be an area with music and,
this year, the relaxing 6-7-8 Audi lounge where you can give your feet and taste buds
a refresher with sparking wine and fresh oysters from Taylor Shellfish
or get a little get-up-and-go in the Fonte Coffee lounge.
Stop by the various commission and media booths (we'll
be there!) to thank them for supporting the event and see what they have
to share--you never know what you'll learn.
There's a possibility you're reading this and thinking
you would love to attend, but with this much being offered (and we
haven't even mentioned the souvenir wine glass), you probably can't
afford it. So here is the best part of this whole deal--you can! Tickets
are just $49. It's an incredible value for the number of wines and food
available for tasting. Where else can you go and sample this much,
listen to music, talk to chefs/winemakers/distillers/brewers and sip on
coffee in one place at this value?
At the 2011 event, Charles & Charles (Smith &
Finkel) paired wine and beer!
There's one more thing to convince you to come: a
portion of the proceeds will go to The Giving Grapes Foundation, a 501c3
organization that assists local charities that provide financial
assistance to service industry professionals who have to take time off
work due to injury or illness. So your ticket price will garner you a
lot of fun and assist someone who works in the industries that we find
so fun.
If you haven't already left to find the website and buy
your tickets, it's time to do so now! See you at SW&FE!
