Join us for the 5th Annual Wine & Dine for the Breast Cancer Fund's Climb Against the Odds. Tamara Murphy and Bryan Hill of Brasa are showing their extreme generosity and commitment to the Breast Cancer Fund by hosting the dinner and auction at Brasa to benefit the Breast Cancer Fund. Join us Saturday, May 10, 2008 for Seattle’s first Careers in Wine Symposium, a daylong event exploring career paths and opportunities in the wine industry. Panelists and attendees will examine various aspects of the wine trade and the opportunities available in this growing profession, focusing on fields such as: Communications/Marketing/PR, Restaurants, Distribution/Importing, Education, Sales/Retail, and Viticulture/Enology. Panelists, representing many of Washington’s top wine professionals, will discuss their personal experiences entering and working in the wine trade, insights into where the industry is heading, and suggestions for those just beginning their careers. Selected panelists include: Cyril Frechier of Campagne, Karen Graf of Brian Carter Cellars, Lucas St. Claire of Triage Wines, Linda Conklin of Columbia Winery, author and columnist Braiden Rex-Johnson, and Hilary Sjolund of Distefano Winery. This event is hosted by The Wine and Spirit Archive and will be held at: Northwest Wine Academy at South Seattle Community College, 6000 16th Avenue SW, Seattle, Washington. Cor is the “next” generation of wines with a goal of creating approachable wines with character and distinction, melding old-school tradition with new-school standards. Specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux blends, Alsatian-style Riesling, Gewurtztraminer and Pinot Gris, this Columbia River Gorge winery says they are “influenced as much by music and art as by agriculture.” Please join winemaker Luke Bradford to hear about Cor wines. Barnett Winery was started in 1983 with the intent of producing small amounts of hand crafted Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are located at the top of Spring Mountain.
