Meet Janet Beccera: Seattle’s TasteTwenty Chef 2024
The James Beard Foundation®, the organization behind the James Beard Awards®, the most prestigious culinary recognition in the country, announced that its Taste America culinary series returns to Seattle with a walk-around tasting on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.
at Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. Presented by Capital One, the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® series celebrates culinary excellence and the local independent restaurants at the heart of our communities, bringing together chefs and food lovers for unique dining experiences across 20 U.S. cities.
The Seattle walk-around tasting will feature chef Janet Becerra from Pancita, recognized as one of the industry’s finest culinary talents and changemakers as part of the Foundation’s annual class of TasteTwenty chefs — who will champion the James Beard Foundation’s mission of Good Food for Good® at this special event, in collaboration with local guest chefs. See the event The website below is the list of star talent featured on Oct. 23.
Becerra is a first-generation Mexican American chef from Seattle. During her 11-year career, she has also worked professionally in France and Mexico. In 2020, she opened Pancita, a Mexican-driven pop-up, to share the Indigenous practice of nixtamalized maize with the Seattle community. With the help of her team, Pancita is now a full-service restaurant showcasing the diversity and love of Mexican cuisine every week. Chef Becerra is a James Beard Award Nominee.
